Owner and Coach

Holly

Her journey into becoming a gym owner is rooted in a lifelong love for fitness. With 12 years as a competitive gymnast and 27 years as a martial artist, Holly deeply understands the intricacies of the human body. Her passion lies in defying limits, promoting strength, and enhancing flexibility.

When the opportunity arose to acquire ACR Athletics, Holly seized it with enthusiasm. She envisions a fitness haven where everyone experiences the joy of working out in a challenging yet enjoyable atmosphere. Holly, drawing from her 15 years of coaching gymnastics, excels in breaking down skills into building blocks for impeccable techniques.

Ask her about her favorite movement to coach, and she'll likely mention handstands or anything that involves being upside down or hanging on the rig. A gymnastics aficionado at heart, Holly brings a unique flair to coaching various movements.

What can you expect in her workouts? ABSolutely abs! Holly loves incorporating abdominal exercises, emphasizing their role in ensuring a safer experience during heavy lifting. Her dedication to the well-being of her members shines through.

Coach

Brittany boasts an impressive 15-year tenure in competitive soccer before embarking on her college journey, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology. Since 2016, Brittany has been deeply engaged in the world of CrossFit, both as a coach and an active participant. Her credentials as a USA Weightlifting (USAW) certified coach date back to 2018, specializing in Olympic lifting techniques. Throughout her career, Brittany has demonstrated her versatility by designing tailored exercise programs for individuals and group fitness classes nationwide. Her expertise spans a wide range of fitness disciplines, including bodybuilding, powerlifting, Olympic lifting, HIIT training, mobility and rehabilitation exercises, as well as sport-specific preseason and off-season training programs. Beyond her coaching credentials, Brittany is a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant and holds the esteemed title of Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Brittany firmly believes that fitness and nutrition are highly individualized pursuits, rejecting the notion of a one-size-fits-all approach. Her greatest joy lies in witnessing individuals embark on their unique journeys toward achieving the healthiest versions of themselves.

Coach

Kate

Originally from northern Michigan, Kate has called many places home as a military spouse. She is blessed to be a stay-at-home mom, and she also volunteers with several different organizations.

As a teenager, Kate figure skated before a knee injury finally made her quit in 2001. She didn’t get back into any formal physical activity until finally having a wake-up call about her health in 2013 after the birth of her second child. She spent several years running and doing yoga before transitioning to at home workouts that focused on strength training.

In 2020, inspired by a friend and propelled by a need for community, Kate attended her first Crossfit class and loved everything about it (except burpees.) In 2022, Kate obtained her CF-L1 in order to push herself further, and also to allow her to share her love of Crossfit with others. She is excited to be able to encourage people and watch them grow.

Jay grew up in Panama City, and finished college at University of West Florida before moving to Nashville, TN to start a teaching career.

Jay got involved in getting fit through obstacle races and running. He started a running group and began the journey to run Ultra Marathons.

He then became caught up in functional fitness and became a certified personal trainer in order to learn more about lifting and to lead a group of dads in early morning HIIT workouts.

In 2019, Jay moved back home to Panama City and found his community at ACR Athletics. Wanting to learn more, Jay became a CF-L1 in 2021 and is excited to help others find community and reach fitness goals.

James comes to us as a CrossFit Level 1 Certified Coach, hails from the vibrant state of New Jersey, where he cultivated his athletic prowess in a variety of sports, including Baseball, Basketball, Football, Track and Field, and Wrestling, all throughout his upbringing and college years. His academic journey led him to Rutgers University, where he pursued Mechanical Engineering and excelled as a collegiate athlete specializing in javelin throwing. Later, James transitioned to Florida Atlantic University, where he achieved both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Ocean Engineering. Panama City has been his cherished home since 2021.

In 2019, James embarked on his CrossFit journey while still in New Jersey. He quickly developed a deep affection for the competitive spirit that CrossFit fosters, particularly in the realm of weightlifting. Upon relocating to Panama City, James found his fitness family at ACR, where he continued his relentless pursuit of becoming a more well-rounded athlete. It was in 2023 that James earned his CrossFit Level 1 certification, solidifying his commitment to coaching and guiding fellow athletes in their quest to surpass their fitness aspirations.

Coach

Vanessa
vanessa w_edited.jpg

Vanessa, a small-town Connecticut native, discovered her love for sports early on, excelling in Track & Field throughout high school. After relocating to Florida in 2012, she found a new passion for SCUBA diving, evolving it into a successful career as a dive instructor. In the summer of 2022, Vanessa fell in love with CrossFit and quickly embraced the ideals and sense of community at ACR Athletics, feeling like family. With her natural teaching ability, she obtained her L1 certification in December 2022. Despite her relatively short coaching tenure, Vanessa's experience in guiding others and her profound love for CrossFit make her an excellent addition to our coaching team. She wishes she had discovered CrossFit and its incredible community much earlier.
